SBD Involvement

Security By Design was initially requested to head the design team on a complete renovation of Bechtel’s San Francisco security control center. The project was later expanded to add a second East-Coast security control center.

The project required not only a fully integrated system for access control, alarm monitoring, and security video, but also consideration for the ergonomic aspect of the space. The floor was raised to allow space for cables and prevent tripping hazards. Workstations were required for multiple dispatchers, who would monitor international locations around the clock.

Color scheme and lighting factored into the considerations for the room. Due to the 24/7 shifts, the control center needed to promote alertness while maintaining a calm and comfortable environment.

The design also included radio communication between dispatchers and their global guard forces. All phone traffic and radio communications are recorded.

he design of a new campus in Utah. The first phase is now complete and a second phase is due to start construction soon. We also provided the same services for a new, free-standing data center. SBD provided design and construction support. The work included biometrics, a new security operations center and network integration.
