Adobe Systems, Inc.
San Jose, CA and worldwide

Description Of Site:

Security By Design’s work with Adobe began in 2004 with a request to create global security standards. Adobe’s goal was to achieve uniformity in its security systems worldwide. Security By Design, Inc. proposed an approach to include the standardization of products and systems not only in the US, but also in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Such standardization is ambitious since not all systems are available in all countries. Further, power requirements and life-safety codes differ from region to region.

Despite those challenges, SBD succeeded in creating standards for specifications and details so that Adobe could issue its own RFP packages. This resulted in huge cost savings for Adobe because the equipment design work needs to be done only once. Adobe facilities and security staff around the world were able to plan and design their own security equipment configurations simply by consulting the standards manual as new sites are added.

SBD also provided consulting assistance to Adobe for its facilities in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This project entailed security video systems and access control (including elevators) design for seven floors in the Preston Square building.

SBD provided full consulting services for the design of a new campus in Utah. The first phase was completed in 2012 and construction has just started on the second phase where SBD did the design and consulting as well as filled the role of Adobe’s security representative in all of the design and construction meetings. SBD provided design and construction support services for a new, free-standing data center that included biometrics, a new security operations center and network integration.

Adobe completed a San Jose Refresh project from 2014-2016 in three phases where SBD did the design, consulting, and construction administration work to upgrade both office and amenities spaces. SBD participated in the design for each of the tower floor renovations over the last few years.

The security installation of SBD’s designs has just started on Adobe’s site at 100 Hooper in San Francisco, CA.

SBD assisted Adobe through the process of rolling out a new Physical Access Control System worldwide and has started the process of migrating to a new Video Management System. SBD is involved in bringing the Security System Standards up to date. Additionally, Adobe is utilizing SBD Assist, a Web Standards interface, to record testing and as-built data in a single, easy-to-access central location with specific photos required to document proper installation and enable remote sign-off.
